Celebrating Successful Women Entrepreneurs

One of the best things about working at the Centre for Women in Business is the array of talented, driven, entrepreneurial women we encounter. Their businesses are as diverse as they are and their successes just as notable. It’s a marvel to observe what these women have accomplished.

Over the past week the CWB team has been following fashion designer Lisa Drader-Murphy’s adventures at the Cannes Film Festival in France. Lisa and her son Sam were invited to participate in the Gifting Suite at the Cannes Film Festival to showcase Turbine apparel and accessories with the celebrities and guests in attendance.

Lisa is the president and owner of Turbine Fashion Design Studio & Café in Falmouth and the Turbine Boutique in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Winner of the Progress Club Women of Excellence Award in the category of innovator/entrepreneur, Drader-Murphy has been a designer for the garment design and manufacturing industry for 20 years.

So how does a business owner get their business on the international stage you ask? Sheer determination and hardwork for sure, but there’s more to it than that. And Lisa’s going to let CWB guests in on her secrets to success when she speaks at the Centre’s annual THE JUNE EVENT. Plan to wrap- up your networking before summer hits by connecting or reconnecting with clients and suppliers. Don’t miss out—last year this event sold out with more than 125 businesswomen from across Nova Scotia!
